Faraway from mainland ,
after the defeat of Italy in 1943,(Lissa),
become the principal naval base and headquarter of partisans, beause it was the only island who escaped from the nazist occupation of Dalmatia. This wonderful island has high and rocky coasts and
it is overlaied by a generous vegetation. Thanks to the favourable climate, the production of good wines is really
rich.
Vis is the chief town of the island and it is situated into a large bay, rich of archaeologic ruines: the walls of the greek colony,
the public thermae, a roman theater
and a nekropolis. |
